Notes for Joseph Mahlon GUTHRIE
Joseph M. Guthrie, formerly of Chester County Joseph M. Guthrie, 89, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy E. (Lipka) Guthrie, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Born in Ercildoun, Pa., he was the son of the late H. Mahlon and Laura (Thomas) Guthrie. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II with the 448th Bombardment Group, Heavy, 8th Air Force, 2nd Air Division, 20 Combat Wing. Returning home to Chester County, he lived in Coatesville and Downingtown at Guthriesville, until moving to Masonic Village in Elizabethtown during 2007 to take on retirement living. Joe worked as an engineering technician at Lukens, Downingtown Iron Works and DuPont designing pressure vessels for over 40 years. He was an active member of the Coatesville Presbyterian Church and Past Master of the Brandywine-Goddard Masonic Lodge #383 F. & A.M. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kristine A. Clark, of Tampa, Fla. and two sons, Brian M. Guthrie, of King George, Va. and Joseph P. Guthrie, of Macedon, N.Y. Private Interment will be in New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Lincoln University, P
