Notes for Josiah Jones GILPIN

Josiah Gilpin, who retired in 1981 from the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission after many years as a forester and liaison with Maryland state government officials, died Feb. 2 at Brooke Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Sandy Spring of complications from a fall. He was 80.

Mr. Gilpin spent much of his career at WSSC after a few years with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.

Josiah Jones Gilpin was born in Olney and served in the Army during the 1950s.

He was a member of the American Legion and had been a volunteer firefighter in Sandy Spring.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joanne Grey Gilpin of Olney; two sons, William Edward Gilpin of Montgomery Village and Stephen B. Gilpin of Wheaton; a sister; and two grandsons.
