Notes for Ruth E. CULBERTSON
Award-winning artist longtime Folsom resident
Ruth E. Cannon, 84, a longtime resident of Folsom and an award-winning artist, died April 21 at Taylor Hospice in Ridley Park.
Born in Collingdale to the late Francis and Selena Culbertson, Mrs. Cannon was a resident of the Folsom section of Ridley Township for most of her life.
She also maintained homes in Brigantine, N.J. and Plantation, Fla.
Mrs. Cannon was a talented artist, working in paint, sculptures and other forms of art work. She won many competitions and was a former member of the Community Arts Center in Wallingford.
Many of her paintings are hung in prominent areas throughout Delaware County.
Mrs. Cannon was devoted to her family, especially to her husband.
Her husband of 62 years, Giles J. Cannon, Sr., died in 2002. Her sisters, Almira Dieffenwierth and Elizabeth Davis, also preceded her in death.
Survivors: Sons, Francis G. Cannon, Giles J. Cannon, Jr. and Harry D. Cannon of Ridley Township, Michael D. Cannon of Wallingford, Robert L. Cannon of Chadds Ford daughter, Ruth E. Fulkersin of Prospect Park sisters, Selena Baldwin of Coatesville, Joan Kisling of Downingtown brother, Francis "Bud" Culbertson of Ridley Park 33 grandchildren 63 great-grandchildren 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass: 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2130 Franklin Avenue, Morton.
Visitation: After 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Burial: Entombment at the family mausoleum in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple.
