Notes for Allen Kenneth LEE

Allen K. Lee, 74, of Newark, died on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, after a long illness.

Lee was born in Kennett Square, Pa., on June 15, 1932, son of the late Harry Lee and Esther Hummel Lee. A 1951 graduate of Newark High School, he served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, earning, among other awards, the Bronze Service Star and Presidential Unit Citation for meritorious service. In civilian life, Lee was employed for 12 years as a transportation dispatcher with Conoco Corporation. He volunteered as an umpire for youth baseball leagues and was a member of the Delaware Baseball Umpires Association for six years.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Peterson Lee; their three sons, A. Kenneth Lee Jr. and his wife.Amy, of Alameda, Calif., Andrew K. Lee and his wife, Julie, of Wilmington and Brian K. Lee of Tacoma, Wash.; his sister, Dorothy Wickersham of Harleysville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Vincent, Nelson and Franklin Lee.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home Newark. Interment with military honors followed in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
