Notes for Vera Elizabeth DUNLAP
Vera Dunlap Barnes of Brandamore, wife of Edmund C. Barnes, died on Saturday, May 28, 2011.
She was the daughter of the late Harry F. Dunlap and the late Bessie Hall Dunlap.
A lifelong resident of the area, Vera was a graduate of S. Horace Scott Senior High School in 1941 and was a member of the All Girls chorus that sang at Naval and Army bases. She was a member of the former Downingtown Women's Club, the Garden Club, and the PECO card club that met for over 40 years. She loved painting, gardening, and landscaping and enjoyed traveling with family and friends and going to the shore.
For 10 years she worked as a bookkeeper at the Producers Co-operative Exchange in Coatesville; then as a secretary for Scott Intermediate High School and also Chester County Mutual Insurance Co. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville.
In addition to her husband, Vera is survived by her three children: James E. Barnes of Bradford; Patricia B. Hewston of Swan Lake, N.Y.; and Timothy B. Barnes of Elverson; four grandchildren: Steven, Jessica, Cathleen and Adam Barnes. She was also predeceased by her brother, Gerald Dunlap, and her sister, Evelyn Dunlap Dundore.
