Louis A. Parks Jr., 81, formerly of Upper Chichester, a veteran of World War II, died Jan. 3 at Naamans Creek Country Manor in Bethel.
Born in Ridley Park, Mr. Parks served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the Southern Delaware County Authority for 22 years, retiring in 2005. He was employed as an operator by Sun Oil Co., retiring in 1982.
Mr. Parks was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he served as a vestryman, superintendent of the Sunday school and Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, Upper Chichester Seniors, and the Sapphire and Honor Club at Sun Oil. He was a former member of Chichester Township Youth Aid.
During its bicentennial, Mr. Parks served as a tour guide at Old Christ Church in Philadelphia.
Mr. Parks was a lifelong resident of Upper Chichester before moving to Maris Grove in Concord in 2008.
He was the son of the late Louis A. and Hilda Hyatt Parks.
Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Norma J. Voshell Parks; sons, Jeffrey W. Parks of Westtown, Karl E. Parks of Cockeysville, Md.; brothers, Gary Parks of Youngstown, Ohio, John Holland of Harleysville; sister, Doris Carrosella of Florida; seven grandsons.
