Notes for William Leslie BENSON
William Leslie Benson, Sr. was the youngest child of Robert Washington Benson and his wife, Viola Newlin. A few years after his birth, his family moved to the Rockland area of Delaware to work at the Rockland Paper Mill. He spent his war service during World War 2 in the Pacific. Returning from the war, he married Doris Eleanor Farrar, the daughter of Arthur Stanley Farrar and Doris Sarah Amidon. The couple was married by the current minister of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church on January 18, 1946. Mr. Benson passed away suddenly of a heart attack on February 26, 1957 at the age of 35. He left behind his wife and two small children.
