Notes for Alan Coulter MARKER
Alan Coulter Marker, 65, was born 10/5/49 in Darby, PA to Byron and Ethyl (Cunningham) Marker. He grew up in Morton, PA until entering the Vietnam war, where he served in the Air Force, and was stationed in Thailand as a Missile System Maintenance Specialist. Upon leaving the service, he continued his passion for electronics and radios by studying to become an electrical engineer, where he later worked for Decision Data and General Instruments.
He married Diane (Bogucki) Marker (predeceased) in 1978, and moved to Malvern to start a family where he spent most of his life. He is survived by his beloved son, Jeff Marker (Erin). His kindness and sharp wit was apparent to anyone who met him, but his true passion was fixing and tinkering with things… he never met a gadget he couldn’t take apart and understand, or a pun not worth repeating. Throughout Alan’s life, he especially enjoyed HAM radio (call sign KU3U), playing and listening to music, computers, coaching his son’s soccer team, dogs, being outside, and anything sweet.
Alan passed away peacefully in his sleep on 11/18/14 after his struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. He is also survived by his brother George Marker (Kathleen), nieces Peggy Parker (Ray) and Debbie Plunkett, nephew Andy Marker (Suzie), great-nieces Gabrielle Plunkett, Kathryn Mastrangelo, Emma Parker, and Anna Marker, and great-nephews Joseph Mastrangelo, Steve Plunkett, and Drew Marker.
