Beatrice L. Whiteman, 70, of Kennett Square, died unexpectedly Saturday of natural causes at the Southern Chester County Medical Center, West Grove.

She was the wife of William E. Whiteman. They were married for 49 years.

Born in East Nottingham Township, Chester County, she was the daughter of the late J. Martin and Mary Paxson Evans.

Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Mark E. of Oxford, Lowell M. of Upper Darby and Paul N. of Kennett Square; a daughter, LuAnn O'Brien of Kennett Square; two grandsons; a brother, J. Martin Evans of Oxford; and a sister, Doris M. Johnson of Willow Street.
