Notes for Mary Twining JONES
Mary T.J. Park Mary Park of Dresher formerly of Horsham died September 28, 2014. She was 103. Mary was born on a farm in Warrington Township on June 28, 1911, to J. Wilson and Ida Twining Jones. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph C. Park, son Lt. Joseph C. Park Jr., brother J. Wilson Jones and niece Nancy Jones Keiser. She is survived by a daughter Carol DiJoseph (Lawrence) of Cape May, New Jersey, three granddaughters Krista DiJoseph of Ambler, Carol DiJoseph of Lansdale and Charlene Gore (Phillip) of Horsham and two great grandchildren Rory and Abigail. Mary graduated from Doylestown High School and Shippensburg University. She taught elementary school in the Hatboro-Horsham School District beginning her career at Prospectville School prior to the construction of the Dorothea Simmons School in 1933. She retired from teaching at Blair Mill in the early 1970's. For several years she was a volunteer at Fonthill in Doylestown and the Union Library of Hatboro. She was a member of Morning Light Chapter OES, the now historic Horsham Farmers Club, and Horsham Preservation and Historical Association. Mary was an active member of the Bucks County Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. Most important to her was her commitment to the Quaker faith. A life-long member of the Religious Society of Friends and long-time member of Horsham Friends Meeting where she was married, Mary cherished the quiet strength and support of the Meeting and the deep friendships she shared. All who knew Mary appreciated her spirit, love of life, sense of humor, and positive attitude. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining, cultural events, sports, and social occasions with family and friends. In 2002 she moved to Dresher Estates where she was welcomed and cared for by a skilled and dedicated staff. The family is deeply grateful for the generous support of all those who made it possible for her to enjoy her declining years in comfort and security. A memorial service will be held at Horsham Friends Meeting 500 Easton Road Horsham on Sunday October 19th at 2PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary's name may be sent to The Home and Care Committee of Abington Quarterly Meeting c/o Robert Reiff, Treasurer 304 Cameron Drive Douglassville PA 19518.
