AGE: 66 • Vero Beach, FL formerly of Rising Sun, MD

Paul Edward Sharpless, 66, of Vero Beach, FL, formerly of Rising Sun, MD, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Born in Cumberland, MD on May 8, 1948, he was the son of the late Raleigh and Nellie Sharpless.

For the past 11 years, Mr. Sharpless was self-employed delivering medical equipment throughout the United States. He had been the manager of North Side Liquors in Elkton before moving with his wife to Cleveland, OH where he was a fleet manager for MBNA America Bank. As a fleet manager, he drove the corporate coach to various promotional venues, including NASCAR races. Mr. Sharpless had a passion for cars and driving, and will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Ruth Ann Sharpless; daughters, Carrie Lynn, Rising Sun, MD and Nicole T. Winterbottom, Kennett Square, PA.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD, where visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow the service in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton.
