Notes for Marian E. HANBY
Marian Hanby Walker "Manny" Age 89, of Pike Creek, DE, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at her home. Mrs. Walker was a physical education teacher at William Penn H.S., Lore School, Warner Jr. H.S., and retired from Wilmington H.S. in 1971.
She was a graduate of A. I. duPont H.S., West Chester State Teachers College, and received her Masters Degree from Temple University.
From 1947-1955 she was the Supervisor of physical education for the State Department of Education. She was rated National Official in Hockey and Basketball and received the Service Award from the Delaware Physical Education Assoc. She was Head Counselor for the Wilmington Summer Day Camp and J.C.C. Day Camp.
Manny is survived by her husband of 37 years, Earl V. Walker; 1 son, Lawrence B. Walker and his wife, Roxanne (Perrino), of Pike Creek; 3 granddaughters, Jessica L. Peace and her husband, Mark, of Elkton, MD, Katherine E. Walker, of Columbia, MD, and Sarah Boyce Walker, of Pike Creek; 3 great grandchildren, Jenna, Romeil, and Gianna; 2 nephews, Stephan A. Vandever, of Lewes, DE, and Edwin Pennington, of Wilmington; and 3 god children, Dr. S. Mark Cross, Scott M. Cross, and Trudy E. Cross and their mother, Nancy Dever.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Monday, January 17, 2005 at 11:00 am at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Road where friends may call after 10:00. Interment will be in St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery, Mill Creek Hundred.
