Notes for Marion Sims Jr. ROSENGARTEN
Marion Rosengarten Stroud, 74, who was active in city horticulture groups and nationally known as a handler and competitor in retriever field trials, died Monday at her home in West Chester.
Mrs. Stroud served on the board of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and was active in the Garden Club of America. She also was a past president of the Weeders Garden Club, which in 1986 awarded her a Dorothy Falcon Platt award for outstanding horticulture achievement.
She belonged to the Buckeye Retriever Club in Cleveland, where she lived for 19 years, and the Swamp Dog Club in eastern Pennsylvania. During World War II, Mrs. Stroud served as a nurse's aide at Pennsylvania Hospital. In later years, she served on the board of the Visiting Nurses Association, both in Cleveland and Philadelphia.
An avid golfer, Mrs. Stroud won the golf championship at the Kirtland Country Club of Cleveland three times and in Philadelphia was a member of the Gulph Mills Golf Club.
She belonged to the Acorn Club.
Survivors: her husband, Morris W. 3d; daughter, Marion Stroud Swingle, and a brother.
Services: memorial, 11 a.m. Friday, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Route 401, Ludwig's Corner, Chester County; interment, private.
