Notes for Jane Ann KERR

Mrs. Jane Anne (Kerr) Yerkes, 92, of 4073 Frecon Rd., Chambersburg, PA, died at 9:50 P.M., Friday, August 29, 2008 in her home following an extended illness.

Born April 13, 1916 in Downington, PA, she was the daughter of the late George, Jr. and Harriet (Martin) Kerr. She lived her early life in the Downingtown area.

Mrs. Yerkes graduated from West Chester High School with the class of 1933. She graduated in 1937 from Columbia University Hospital School of Nursing, New York, NY as a registered nurse.

She and her husband, the late Thomas M. Yerkes, were married June 24, 1939. She and her husband moved to the Franklin County, PA area in 1980 after living 30 years in Marshallton, PA. They had lived at their current address since March of 1999. Mr. Yerkes died December 5, 2003.

Mrs. Yerkes worked as a registered nurse with Henry Street Visiting Nursing Association in New York City, Baby's Hospital, Philadelphia and Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA retiring after 40 years of service in 1978.

She was a member of Conococheague Audubon Society, Chambersburg, PA.

She is survived by one daughter, Anne Y. Barton, husband, Dr. James C.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and caregivers; Martha Hawbaker, Carol Clapper, Marie Sensenig.

She is preceded in death by her husband; one son, Thomas Kerr Yerkes; three sisters, and two brothers.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with burial in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA.
