Notes for Franklin Baker Jr. PINKERTON

Franklin Baker Pinkerton, Jr. was born June 26, 1926 in Media, Pennsylvania to Franklin and Agnes Pinkerton. He was their only child. In his senior year of high school he had enough credits to graduate so he began college at Eastern Nazarene College in 1943.
On June 6, 1944, just before his 18th birthday, Franklin joined the Navy with this advice from his father that in the Navy he would always have a bed and meals verses the Army which had been the plans of Franklin to serve like his father. He served in the South Pacific on an island that was as an ammunition depot and earned an honorable discharge in 1946 then returned to Eastern Nazarene College (ENC).
Franklin graduated in 1949 from ENC in Quincy, Massachusetts with a Bachelor in Ed and later earned a masters degree from Temple University. He began work as a teacher in Larimer, PA and then later spent 2 years teaching the children of military both in France and Germany. While in France he also taught a military adult Sunday school class introducing the two step redemption plan: salvation and heart purity.
In August 1955 before traveling to France, Franklin met and married Naomi Ruth Sypolt. She stayed to take her state boards in nursing and joined him just before Christmas. Following the birth of their first son, Franklin III, in June 1957 in Germany, they returned to the USA.
Franklin taught for 30 years mostly in Delaware retiring in 1984. He taught in many schools including Alfred I DuPont Elementary, Forest Oak Elementary, Linden Hill Elementary, and Conrad Middle school. He taught in the general classroom but also taught reading which was his specialty. After his retirement Franklin returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher for about 22 years.
The church was always important to Franklin and he enjoyed being involved as Sunday school teacher, board member, junior church teacher, active with the youth and many other things over the years. He enjoyed his own Bible reading time and sharing what he learned with others.
In his retirement years he loved being in his gardens both flower and vegetable gardens. He would often want to plant more than he could take care of and still had dreams of more things that he would like to do. He even planted a few fruit trees and berry bushes that produced fruit that he was able to enjoy.
Franklin married Naomi Ruth Sypolt in 1955. They were able to celebrate 56 years of marriage together before she succumbed to illness in 2011.
He is survived by his children, Franklin B Pinkerton III (wife Lee), Gwendolyn R Pinkerton, F. Russell Pinkerton (wife Melissa) , Cynthia L Pinkerton Sichory (husband Jose) along with 5 grandchildren, Jonathan (wife Rachal), Christina (husband Chris) Amy (husband Billy), Jennifer (husband Clint), Courtney, and seven great grandchild.
