James M. Shellem Sr., 74, of West Grove, a self-employed house painter and World War II veteran, died March 4 at home.
Born in Drexel Hill, Mr. Shellem was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a self-employed house painter for W.S. Hannum in Chester.
Mr. Shellem was the son of the late Francis Aloysius and Josephine Shellem.
Survivors: Wife, Catherine Loretta Shellem; daughters, Judith R. Brackin of West Grove; Susan A. MacDonald of Claymont, Del., Catherine L. Pownall of Williamsport, Pa.; sons, James Shellem Jr., Mark J. Shellem, both of West Grove, Steven J. Shellem of Claymont, Del.; sister, Margaret Costello of Denver; brothers, Francis Shellem of Annapolis, Md., Joseph Shellem of Havertown; 12 grandchildren.
Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Anastasia Church, 3301 W. Chester Pike, Newtown Square.
Visitation: 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 W. Chester Pike, Newtown Square.
Burial: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Marple Township.
