Notes for Robert Irvin BALDWIN

Robert I. "Bob" Baldwin Sr., 86, of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at the Phoenixville Hospital.
He was the husband of Selena Culbertson Baldwin, with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage last Dec. 3.
He was born in Cains, Pa., son of the late Clement M. and Anna Davis Baldwin.
He was a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Compass, where in the past he was senior warden of the vestry, junior warden, organizer for the Faith Alive weekend and Sunday school teacher.
He graduated from Scott High School in Coatesville, and completed business courses through Penn State.
He was co-owner of Baldwin's Garage and Used Cars in Cains for approximately 60 years, retiring two months shy of his 85th birthday. Earlier, he also owned Baldwin's Riding Academy and enjoyed foxhunting.
Bob enjoyed antique cars, especially his 1902 Oldsmobile and 1966 Mustang convertible. He also enjoyed raising sheep and working at his farm, gardening, spending time at his home in Brigantine, N.J., traveling, and spending time with his family.
He was a past president of the Octorara Area Rotary Club and was currently involved with the Christiana Masonic Lodge, #417 F.&A.M., Rajah Temple of Reading, Rajah Car Club and the Reading Consistory.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, traveling to six continents.
He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, straightforwardness, sense of humor and zest for life.
Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Robin S. Baldwin of Lancaster; a daughter-in-law, Carol Brubaker Baldwin of Lancaster; two grandsons, Robert Andrew Baldwin of Lancaster and Alex Michael Baldwin of Oregon; five siblings, William D. Baldwin of Honey Brook, Alfred C., husband of Hilda Johnson Baldwin of Coatesville, Margaret B. "Peggy" Plank of Lancaster, Jo Arlene Baldwin of Coatesville, and Barry J., husband of Linda Heaps Baldwin of Gap.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert I. Baldwin Jr. and Toby Read Baldwin; and three siblings, Clement E. "Bus" Baldwin Sr., Edith Mae "Dollie" Baldwin and Ned Baldwin.
He was uncle to 39 nieces and nephews, and was a father/grandfather figure to other special people in his life.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1520 W. Kings Highway, Gap, with Father John Colin Obenchain officiating.
Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
There will be a viewing at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, with a Masonic service by the Christiana Masonic Lodge at 7:45 p.m. There will also be a viewing time on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
