Notes for Jane Hall COLESWORTHY
Jane Hall Colesworthy Hutchison, Malvern, PA., daughter of Thomas G. and Lauretta H. Colesworthy, born September 23, 1922, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2018. Jane was an athlete. She taught physical education briefly before starting a family. She made certain that her four boys, Bob, Don, Mike, and Doug, all learned to swim and even compete on swim teams as they were growing up. An avid tennis player, she enjoyed the game for many decades of her adult life and introduced the sport to each of her children. Family vacations were important -- Poconos, Stone Harbor, NJ, the mountains of upstate New York, Rocky Mountain National Park, a grand tour of the Western states, houseboat trips out of Fort Myers Beach, and numerous vacations to the pristine lakes of northern Minnesota. Every Christmas the extended family gathered at her home to enjoy family, food and fellowship. Jane was born and grew up in West Chester, PA, and attended West Chester State Teachers College and Penn State University. After graduating she taught physical education during World War II. Jane’s husband, Tom, worked for Campbell Soup Company and during the 1950s the family moved around the U.S. as Tom was transferred. Jane and family lived in Omaha, NE, Downers Grove, IL, Bowling Green, OH, and Moorestown, NJ. The family eventually moved back to Malvern, PA. Jane and Tom divorced in 1977. One of her lifelong friends was her cousin Ruth (Whitaker) Kaiser who grew up with Jane in her grandparents’ extended family house on Price Street in West Chester. Jane is predeceased by older sister Betsy Hickman, and is survived by her loving younger sister, Louise Christopher of Springfield, PA, her four sons, Robert (Jill, deceased) of Paoli, PA, Donald (Nancy) of Edina, MN, T. Michael (Cathy) of Charleston, SC, and Douglas of Wheaton, IL, grandchildren Matt Hutchison (Dana), Lindsey Hutchison, Ben Hutchison (Kelly), Molly Hutchison, Elizabeth Hutchison, Laura Hutchison, and Catherine Hutchison, and great-grandson, Malcolm Hutchison. Family members plan to meet later this month for a Celebration of Life.
