Notes for Homer J. DARLINGTON
Homer J. Darlington, 96, of East High Street, Pottstown, formerly of Pughtown, husband of Ingeborg Margit (Schueler) Darlington, passed away Tuesday at his residence.
Born in West Chester, Pa., he was a son of the late Franklin J. Darlington and the late Bertha Mae (Guest) Darlington.
He was a graduate of West Chester High School and West Chester University.
Homer was the director owner operator of the Ivy Mansion - a home for exceptional children - in Pughtown for 25 years until his retirement. He was also a teacher at Downingtown High School.
He served in the Army during World War II.
Homer was a member of Berean Bible Church, Pottstown.
Surviving, besides his wife of 65 years, are three daughters, Gerlinde, wife of Thomas Weaver, of Roaring Springs, Pa., Gisela, wife of James Yerkes, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Sonnhilde, wife of Frank Mullican, of Chesterfield, Va., three foster daughters, Bonnie Herd, of Pottstown, Julie Hale, of Mineral Bluff, Ga., and Sharon Kramer, of Lutz, Fla., and nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Darlington.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday from Berean Bible Church, 2675 E. High St., Pottstown. Officiating will be the Rev. Jace Erb. Burial will be in Limerick Garden of Memories. The family will receive friends Friday from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
