Notes for Elizabeth WHITCOMB
Elizabeth W. Lamborn, affectionately known as Betty, age 92, passed away on April 16, 2016.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was a daughter of the late Maurice P. and Ola F. Whitcomb. Betty grew up in the city of Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1942, where she began her career with the Wilmington Board of Education. While working as a school secretary, Betty met Ernest D. Lamborn, Jr, they married in 1953 and moved to Newark in 1955. After raising two boys, she continued working as a school secretary, and in the late 1970's started working in the business office at Delaware Technical and Community College, retiring in 1988. Always wanting to stay busy, Betty continued to work at Del Tech part time until the mid 2000's.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ernest D. Lamborn, Jr. Betty is survived by her two sons, Ernest D. "Dixon" Lamborn III and T. Chandler "Chan" Lamborn both of Newark.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of the family and friends for their phone calls and visits with Betty.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Hockessin Friends Meeting Cemetery, 1501 Old Wilmington Road, Hockessin, DE. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark.
