Notes for John Bankson PALMER
He served as a bombadier in the artillery in the Revolution, from 1777 to 1780. With his brothers and Robert Wharton, a life-long friend and business associate, John was very active in the PA militia. He attained the rank of Colonel, and for 25 years was the treasurer of the Mutual Insurance Company. This is one of the oldest fire insurance companies. He married Alice Musgrave, a member of a prominent Quaker family who came from England with Wm. Penn.
