Marjorie Darling Barnard, 63, of West Chester, formerly of Glen Mills, died Nov. 24 after a four-year battle with Lewy Body disease.
Born in Reading, Mrs. Barnard was raised in Kennett Square.
She graduated from the George School and attended Colby-Sawyer Junior College and Tufts University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy. She earned a master's degree in counseling and psychology at Immaculata College.
An occupational therapist, she worked with injured veterans and mental-health patients. She oversaw Westtown School's Lower School admissions, and later worked with women in transition for the New Choices/New Options program, helping women in Delaware and Chester counties return to the work force.
Mrs. Barnard helped found the Delaware County Literary Council, raised funds for the Concord Township Library, served on the Goshen Friends School Board and the Kendal Corporation Board.
She was clerk of Willistown Friends Meeting.
Mrs. Barnard enjoyed reconstructing and maintaining her family's historic farm with her husband and mowing fields on their 1953 international tractor.
She was the daughter of the late A. Bennett Darling.
Survivors: Husband, Timothy Barnard; mother, Nancy Darling; sister, Patricia Darling Meyer; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
