Helen D. Mercer of Spring City Helen D. Mercer, 88, of Spring City, passed away on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 in Manatawny Manor in Pottstown. She was the wife of the late Thomas H. Mercer, Jr, with whom she had shared 46 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1990. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Charles R. Diem and Clara Elizabeth Flinn. Helen worked as a secretary for Pepperidge Farms before retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Pottstown, a charter member of the White Shrine and a member of the Coatesville Tall Cedars 56 Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her son, Thomas M. Mercer and his wife Carol of Spring City. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles R. Diem, Jr. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11th, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E.
