Notes for William Joyce Sewell Jr. BORIE
William J. S. Borie, Jr., of Hershey’s Mill, died on Monday, September 16, 2013, at the age of 89. Son of the late Sewell & Martha Borie. Beloved husband of Joann Borie (nee Hutton). Devoted father of William J. S. Borie III (Pat), Dr. Kenneth G. Borie (Mary), John R. Borie, Sara Borie Wilson (Lance), Reed W. Borie (Sally), He is also survived by his stepchildren, Charles H. Peacock & Polly Anne Peacock. Dearest grandfather of twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and also survived by his brother, John McAllister Borie (Judith), a sister, Joyce Reath and was predeceased by his sister, Anne Freund. He graduated from Abington High School in 1942. Also, from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School as a Certified Public Accountant. He retired in 1990 as Corporate Secretary and Accountant of Peirce Phelps, Inc., after 25 years of service. During World War II, he served under General Patton in the 28th Infantry Division. He landed on the beach in Normandy & subsequently marched past the Arch De Triumph in liberated Paris. He received an award for bravery during the Battle of the Bulge. Upon retirement, he was a longtime Volunteer at Lankenau and Paoli Memorial Hospitals. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, October 12th, 10:30 A.M. at Church of The Holy Apostles, Remington Road at Dover Road, Wynnewood, PA. 19096. Interment private.
