Notes for Richard Ashbridge YARNALL
YARNALL RICHARD ASHBRIDGE, 91, of Solebury, Bucks County, formerly of Mt. Airy, died of natural causes on September 15, 2013 at his home. A graduate of Germantown Friends School, Mr.Yarnall earned a bachelor's degree from Colgate University and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania. During World War II he served in the American Field Service with the British Sixth Armored Division in the Italian campaign.
Mr. Yarnall quietly conducted his profession as a sole proprietor for over 50 years involving over two hundred projects of various types and sizes.
His overriding interest was in philosophy, a subject in which he was widely read and on which he authored a book published in the late nineties which he considered his most significant achievement.
He served on the Committee of Seventy and for many years on the boards of Quaker schools. He was a member of the Carpenters' Company and the late Rittenhouse Club.
Much drawn to the beauty of more remote areas, he enjoyed bicycling and canoeing in Bucks County and the Pine Barrens and particularly in Ireland where with Margaret, his wife of over thirty years, he shared a home where they spent parts of each year.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Yarnall is survived by sons Jonathan and George and daughter Barbara Welsh, all by his former wife, the former Jean Landenberger, and is survived by grandsons Nicholas and William and grand-daughter, Whitney Yarnall, all of Bucks County.
