Notes for Laura M. BROWN

Laura B. McSparran, 81, formerly of Quarryville, died Friday at Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike.
She was the wife of Charles G. McSparran, who survives her at Brethren Village. They had been married for 62 years.
Born in Fulton Township, she was a daughter of the late Eugene H. and Nellie Patterson Brown.
She was a feature writer for Lancaster Farming for many years. Until her marriage, she was a secretary at Armstrong Cork Co., now Armstrong World Industries.
A 62-year member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Peach Bottom, she served as a past president of the church's Women's Society of Christian Service and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the church board.
A seventh degree grange member, she belonged to Fulton Grange No. 66, where she served as a secretary and lecturer. She also served on the lecture committee of the state grange.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Ray A. of Pittsboro, N.C., John E. of Elizabethtown and Lloyd W. of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, B. Virginia Cloud of Lancaster.
