Notes for Charles Goodwin MCSPARRAN
QUARRYVILLE -- Charles G. McSparran, 87, of Brethren Village, Lancaster, formerly of Quarryville, died Tuesday in the village.
He retired as a block operator from the former Pennsylvania Railroad and was a retired farmer; was a member and past master of the Fulton and Pomona granges; a former judge of elections; a former member of the Quarryville Fair Committee; a past worshipful master of Washington F&AM Lodge 156; enjoyed golf, woodworking and gardening; and was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Peach Bottom, where he was a former board member, Sunday School teacher and choir member.
He was the widower of Laura Brown McSparran. Surviving are three sons, Ray A. of Pittsboro, N.C., John E. of Elizabethtown and Lloyd W. of Pittsburgh; two brothers, J. Collins of Camp Hill and Donald H. of Biglerville; two stepsisters, Grace Alexander of Peach Bottom and Mildred Booth of Lititz; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in his church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
