Notes for Genevieve Watson WALTON

Mrs. Genevieve Walton Dietrich, wife of Dr. Paul H. Dietrich and a former newspaperwoman and active for many years in social and club work here, died yesterday morning after a long illness. She lived at 484 Eastview Drive.
Mrs. Dietrich was born in Philadelphia, the daughter of the later Ephraim Thompson Walton and Mrs. Ellen McAuliffe Walton.
She married Dr. Dietrich, widely known Chattanooga doctor, chief radiologist at Erlanger Hospital, in Wilmington, Del., when Dr. Dietrich was a medical student at the University of Pennsylvania. They lived for some time in Pontiac, Mich., and Gary, Ind., before coming to Chattanooga about 20 years ago.
Editor, Reporter, Critic
Mrs. Dietrich was society editor, reporter and music critic for the Philadelphia Public Ledger when Col. Milton B. Ochs of Chattanooga was an executive of that paper. At that time she was a member of the Philadelphia Operatic Society.
She later was society editor of a daily paper in Ashland, Wis.
Later, in Chattanooga, she was one of the firs directors of publicity for the Chattanooga Opera Association.
She was a member of a number of organizations, including the Kosmos-Woman's Club here, before her health caused her to give up such activity.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Mrs. Dietrich is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Robert MacCurdy, Boston Mass., Mrs. W.W. Willman, Chicago, and Mrs. Albert S. Easley, Chattanooga; two sons, Paul W. Dietrich and Donald Dietrich, of Chattanooga.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Episcopal Church, the Rev. Battle McLester officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Welch, William Weeks, Milton E. Martin, Dr. Franklin Bogart, Dr. J. Marsh Frere, Dr. Gene Kistler, Dr. Jack Adams and Dr. John M. Crowell.
The family requests that flowers be omitted.
The body is at the Wann-Chapman Funeral Home.
