DOROTHEA BAIER HUTCHINSON WOOD, 84, of Wynnewood, a homemaker and avid gardener, died Thursday at Bryn Mawr Hospital.
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Wood graduated from Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1925 and from Philadelphia Normal School in 1927.
She was president of the Garden Club of Lansdowne from 1958 to 1960 and was a judge for the Philadelphia Horticultural Society.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Harvard C. Wood Jr.; a daughter, Mary Emma Wilson; two sons, John H. and Harvard C. 3d; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 10 a.m. today, All Saints Church, Montgomery Avenue and Gypsy Lane, Wynnewood; interment, private.

JOSEPH SWIFT, 75, the former owner of a restaurant equipment firm in Philadelphia, died yesterday at Lankenau Hospital.

Mr. Swift was a graduate of West Philadelphia High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He owned Swift Brothers Inc., at 152 N. Second St., operating the store from 1932 until his retirement in 1987. The store, renamed Swift Food Equipment Inc., is now owned and operated by his sons.

Surviving are his wife, the former Jenneth Weiner; three sons, Frank, Robert and Avrum; two sisters; a brother, and eight grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Rosenberg's Raphael Sacks, 4720 N. Broad St. Burial will be at Mount Jacob Cemetery.
