Notes for Thomas J. FOULK
Thomas J. Foulk, 85, of Cochranville, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at the Jennersville Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Nancy T. Foulk, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born on Wednesday, March 25, 1924 in Homeville, Chester County, he was the son of the late Mary March Foulk and William T. Foulk.
He was a 1943 graduate of the West Chester High School. He served honorably in the US Army with HQ Btry., 133 Field Artillery, 36th Division and the HQ Co. 319 MED Detachment, 94th Div. in the European Theater of Operations during WWII.
After his service in the armed forces, Tom graduated from the former Eckels College of Mortuary Science of Philadelphia in 1947.
He was employed by Oliver H. Bair Co. of Phila., and the Ferguson Funeral Home of West Palm Beach, Fl., before establishing the Foulk Funeral Home of West Grove in 1954. He was a former member of the Faggs Manor Presbyterian Church of Cochranville, where he served as a member of Session and was a current member of the Union Presbyterian Church in Kirkwood.
He was the senior member and past-president of Avon-Grove Lions Club; a life member and past-president of the West Grove Fire Co.; a member of the New London Gun Club of Mifflin Co., PA., a member and past-president of the Chester County Funeral Directors Assoc.; and a member of both Pennsylvania and the National Funeral Directors Assoc.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three children:William Thompson Foulk, of Oxford, Richard Jefferson Foulk, husband of Sylvia, of Kirkwood, Cynthia Foulk Eastburn, wife of Jeffery, of Landenberg; three grandchildren, Michael J., husband of Joann, Aliah Mei, and Liligrace Foulk.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, Richard J. Foulk and Dr. William T. Foulk and three sisters, Bertha F. Ferguson, Alice F. Moran and Mary F. Vines, and a grandson, Nathaniel S. Davis.
The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 10 at 7 p.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church, 5637 Street Rd, Kirkwood, PA 17536. The lnterment will be held privately at the Faggs Manor Presbyterian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made in Tom's memory to the "Union Presbyterian Church" at the above address, earmarked for the building fund.
