Notes for George Wayne PYLE

George W. Pyle, age 95, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Heartland Hospice House, after a very long and healthy life and is leaving many cherished memories for his family. He was born on April 5, 1920, in Boothwyn, PA. He was the son of the late William W. Pyle and Lilly Myrtle (Forwood) Pyle. George was the oldest of six children. He worked with his younger brothers on the family farm during his younger years. He is survived by his son, George E. Pyle (Betsy) of Wilmington, DE and his daughter, Nancy A. Duffin (Jarvis) of Newark, DE. George is also survived by two brothers, Gilbert Pyle (Ellen) of Honeybrook, PA and Albert Pyle (Betty) of Jennersville, PA, and one sister, Janet Bickings (Ray), of West Chester, PA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Cindi Laird, (Tom) of Coatesville, PA, Jeff Pyle, of New Holland, PA, Sheri Sutton (Ed), of Wilmington, DE, Melissa Blades, of Bear, DE, Donnamarie Duffin, of Eldon, Missouri, Shannon Kadtke, (Tim) of Claymont, DE, Tiffany Prattis (Matt), of Newark, DE, and Russell Pyle, of Wilmington, DE. He is survived by nine Grandchildren, Tayler Dean, of Newark, DE, Mark Blades, of Middletown, DE, Zach Blades, of Middletown DE, Riley Dean, of New Castle, DE, Katy Laird, of Coatesville, PA Erin Sutton, of Christiana, DE, Lauren Prather (Michael), of New Castle, DE, Justin Laird, of Coatesville, PA and Jackson Kadtke, of Claymont, three great­-great-grandchildren Besides his parents, George is predeceased by a sister, Emily Pullen, of West Chester, PA and a brother, Russell Pyle, of Pennsauken, NJ. George was predeceased by his first wife, Bessie A. Pyle (nee Sharpley) and his second wife, Florence Pyle (nee Dieterick). George was an accomplished carpenter, who built the first house he owned. He also went on to build several more houses for relatives and friends. He loved working with his hands. He worked many years in the Maintenance Dept., of Wyeth Laboratories, in West Chester, PA, until his retirement in 1982. He served in the Army Air Force Unit, as an ambulance driver, from 1944 until 1946, when he was honorably discharged. In his leisure time George loved to watch his favorite baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies. George’s other great enjoyment, was camping in the Lancaster County, PA area and spent many years permanently camping at Oak Creek Campground, Bowmansville, PA, with his first wife. Interment will be at New Ark Union Cemetery, Brandywine Hundred. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
