Notes for George James LOOMIS
Mr. George James Loomis, 78, of Landing Drive, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with the Rev. M. Elizabeth Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Loomis, a native of Downingtown, Pa. He was a son of the late Earl and Gladys Slaughter Loomis. had retired as a senior mechanical engineer with West Vaco Corp., Covington, Va. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was a prisoner of war. He received a purple heart and silver star. He was a member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Jean Damron Loomis; three daughters, Susan Loomis, Yuba City, Calif., Becky Rhodes, Rydal, Ga., and Virginia Scheele, Columbia; three stepdaughters, Cynthia Kern, Richmond, Va., Sally Ann Hawkins, Christianburg, Va., and Lauren Wright, Covington, Va.; two brothers, John Loomis, House Springs, Mo., and Earl Loomis, Elkton, Md.; two sisters, Rose Lall, Berwin, Pa., and Eva Lary, Coatesville, Pa.; and 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box K, Aiken, SC 29802.
Shellhouse Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
