Notes for George Dunford REYNOLDS
George D. Reynolds, 94, of Coatesville, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at Hickory House Nursing Home, Honey Brook. He was the husband of Jeannette Hadfield Reynolds, with whom he shared 70 years of marriage. Born in Portsmith, Va., he was the son of the late Oakie R. and Lola Putnam Reynolds. George worked as a boiler house operator at the former Lukens Steel Co., retiring in 1976 after 48 years of service. He was a member of Brandywine Goddard Lodge No. 383, F.&.A.M.; a life member of Westwood Fire Company; and he enjoyed target shooting at Atglen Sportsman's Club. He was the oldest Valley Township supervisor and was also an avid photographer. He played the mandolin and was a 23-year member of Lancaster Liederdranz, a German social club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Elaine J. Tyson, wife of Ronald, of Thorndale; three sons, George D. Reynolds, husband of Helen, of Gap, Randall L. Reynolds, husband of Barbara, of Parkesburg, and Bruce E. Reynolds, husband of Clariss, of New Holland; two brothers, Russell and Paul Reynolds; two sisters, Mildred Carvin and Jeanne Zazo; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Masonic services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Harris-Mountain Funeral Home, 1030 E. Lincoln Highway, Coatesville, where family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery.
