Notes for Barbara A. BYRD
Barbara A. Byrd Underwood of Nottingham Barbara A. Byrd Underwood, 82, of Nottingham, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Ware Presbyterian Village in Oxford. She was the wife of the late Thomas Lee Miller who died in 1957 and the late David Martin Underwood who died in 1964. Born in West Grove, she was a daughter of the late Jeter Byrd and Alberta Street Byrd. In her early years Barbara volunteered as a "Gray Lady" and ward clerk at the Jennersville Regional Hospital. She also worked in the dietary department at Chatham Acres and as a house mother at Coatesville Hospital where she drove the "Blue Goose." She was also a short order cook for Giddy Ups in Oxford. Survivors include one son, James Underwood of Rising Sun, Md.; two daughters, Barbara Ortiz (Noe) of Oxford and Nancy Harris of Nottingham; one brother, Richard Byrd (Shirley) of West Grove; three grandchildren, Kris, Kari and Desiray; and six great-grandchildren, Zoe, Dre, Hope, Noah, Tatianna, and Haven. She was predeceased by a son, William and a sister, Betty. You are invited to visit with Barbara's family from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Foulk & Grieco Funeral Home Inc. (610-869-2685) 200 Rose Hill Rd., West Grove, PA 19390. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery.
