Notes for Dorothy DARLINGTON
Dorothy D. Pyle of West Chester Dorothy D. Pyle, 89, of West Chester, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at The Hickman. She was the beloved wife of Louis H. Pyle, who died in 1996 and with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Jennie Rice Darlington. She was a lifelong resident of West Chester. She was a 1941 graduate of West Chester High School and a 1945 graduate of West Chester State Teacher's College. She taught first and second grades for 32 years in the West Chester Area School District, retiring from Hillsdale Elementary School where she was an original and founding faculty member. She was a board member and volunteer for many years of the Salvation Army in West Chester. She was also a long time active member of the Baptist Church of West Chester. She enjoyed travelling and traveled extensively with her husband. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Gayle P. Campbell and her husband Donald B. and Deborah Parsons and her husband Richard J., all of West Chester; four grandchildren, Kathryn G. Campbell of Washington, D.C., Donald E. Campbell of Cheltenham, UK, Charlotte H. Parsons and Emma L. Parsons, both of West Chester. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, at the Baptist Church of West Chester, 221 S. High St., West Chester, PA 19382, where family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private in St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Chester Springs.
