Notes for Alma Vernon MANCILL

Alma Mancill Lawton, age 93, died on Friday, April 6, 2012.

She was a lifelong resident of Media and surrounding Upper Providence Township.

A graduate of the old Media High School, she worked as a secretary until her marriage to Edward Broadbent Lawton, who predeceased her in 1995.

A longtime member of the First Methodist Church of Media, she served as Church Historian for 20 years.

An active member of the United Methodist Women, she served in many executive positions over the years. She was a member of the Upper Providence Senior Citizens Club and former President of the organization. She enjoyed gardening, travel and reading.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors: She is survived by her sons, Barry Lawton of Elverson (Tanya) and David Lawton of Media (Donna), and daughters Nancy McKenna of Florida (James), and Jeanne Soldo of Aston (Michael). Five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Sister, Phyllis Baker (Jack) of Media, and brother, William Mancill, Jr. (Peggy) of Coatesville.

Visitation/Service: Will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Media. Friends may call in the church, one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Media Cemetery
