Notes for George Brooke FARQUHAR
Joined his father-in-law's family business, becoming a partner in E P Thomas & Sons in 1901 and in 1905 was one of the incorporators of Belmont Dairy in Washington DC.
In 1907 he was President of the Milk Dealers' Association and was one of 36 members of the US Dept of Agriculture Milk Conference, concerned with establishing & maintaining sanitary milk production (including pasteurization).
In 1909 he was a member of the Commerce Chamber Committee; demanding that DC have representation in Congress & the electoral college.
He was still a dairyman on the 1910 census but by 1920 he had shifted his attention and was an agent for the Penn Mutual life Insurance Company.
In 1921 he was elected Chairman of the Membership Committee of the Board of Trade (Washington, DC).
Don't know when or if he retired from the life insurance business but he was still active through 1934.
