Notes for William Wallace Jr. SELLERS
SELLERS, WILLIAM WALLACE JR. 90 - of Ocean City passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he had lived in Ridley Park, PA and had summered in Ocean City for many years before moving here permanently in 1973. Mr. Sellers was a graduate of John Bartram High School. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army where he was a Flight Engineer of B-29's and was in 23 missions over Japan. Mr. Sellers worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1939 until 1955 where he was the youngest engineer and air brake instructor. He was a member and past president of the Railroad Supply Association. He then was President of Standard Car and Truck Company in Chicago, Il retiring in 1978. He was a member of Atlantic City Country Club, Greate Bay Country Club, the Married Couples Club, the Union League in Philadelphia, PA, Masonic Lodge #298 F. & A. M., Media, PA, a 32nd Degree Mason, member of Consistory of Philadelphia, PA, the Riverboat Club, the Ocean City Yacht Club, and was a Boy Scout. Mr. Sellers was an avid sailor and rode his bike on the Ocean City Boardwalk everyday from end to end. Surviving are Janet Sellers, Diane Sellers, John Sellers, Anne Oves, Beth Bowman, all of Ocean City, NJ, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Sellers, a son, William Wallace Sellers, III and a daughter, Judie Sheffer. His Funeral Service will be offered Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from the First Presbyterian Church, 7th Street at Wesley Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 10 o'clock until the time of service. Burial will follow in Cape May County Veterans Cemetery, Cape May Court House, NJ.
