Notes for Norman G. LUKENS

Norman G. "Bud" Lukens, decorated WWII Navy veteran and respected local businessman, has passed away from natural causes in his Wyomissing home at age 85.
Born December 23, 1926 in Duncannon, PA, Bud was the son of the late William H. and Priscilla E. Lukens.
He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, the former Ellen R. (Jepsen) Lukens, in 2002; his son Mark, in 2008 and his brother William H., in 2010.
Bud attended Lemoyne High School and at age 16, enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Following his honorable discharge, Bud graduated from Lebanon Valley College, Annville, PA, where he also attained All-American status in football.
After graduation, Bud married his college sweetheart, Ellen, and began his construction career working for his father-in law, Robert O. Jepsen, with Robert O. Jepsen Builders in Wyomissing.
After Mr. Jepsen retired, Bud founded N.G. Lukens Builder, later Lukens Construction Co. Inc., and N.G. Lukens Real Estate Broker, servicing the Berks County community for over 60 years. Bud was President and Owner until his retirement in 2011.
Bud was an active member of various organizations including the Veterans Administration, the American Legion, the Masons, and The Children's Home.
He was a devoted family man and friend, who was generous, gracious, kind, and thoughtful; a true gentleman. He will be sorely missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Bud will be missed especially by his dear friends from the breakfast club who amazingly endured his humor for a period of over 40 years and who will remain patient while waiting for him to pick up his first, and last, tab.
He leaves behind a close-knit family: two children: daughter Jeanne (Lukens) Worley, widow of Christopher L. Worley, Wernersville, PA and son, Robert W. Lukens and his wife Courtney, of Morrisville, NC. In addition, he is survived by four grandsons: Keegan K. and Rory R. Worley, Wernersville, PA; Mark O. Lukens, Raleigh, NC and James N. Lukens and his wife, Margo, of New Orleans, LA. Bud is also survived by his sister, Doris Shenck, Wormleysburg, PA as well as many nieces and nephews.
