Notes for Paul Terrance WIRT
Paul Terrance Wirt "Terry", age 62, passed away on September 4, 2017 due to complications from Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Terry grew up in Union Park Gardens. He was a 1972 graduate of Salesianum High School. Terry was employed by the DuPont Company for 41-years in the services division. Shortly after his retirement, the company collapsed and was never the same.
Terry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean. He loved hunting, his log cabin, and spending time on the lake in his pontoon boat.
He is survived by his wife of 41-years, Donna Picchi Wirt, whom he considered the best woman on earth. His two daughters, Heather Zwickert (Christian) and Dana DiBiaso were the light of his life and gave him five wonderful grandchildren, Alecia and Angelina DiBiaso and Avery, Collin, and Cameron Zwickert. Terry is also survived by a brother, Mark and his wife Debra and a sister, Marilisa and her husband Dave Patten. His numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Gina Picchi were always considered the best extended family a guy could wish for. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul Francis and Katherine J. Wirt.
In the past, Terry insisted that his passing be an occasion to celebrate and remember his life with happiness and laughter rather than mourn his passing with sadness and tears. With that, the family asks that visiting well-wishers come with smiles and happy memories. He asked that everyone dress casual since Terry hated being "dressed-up". The family wishes to celebrate Terry's life with a service to be held at Mealey's Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington on Friday, September 8th at 12 noon where friends and family are invited to visitation after 10 AM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to A.I DuPont Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
