Notes for William Ronald BRINTON

William Ronald Brinton, Sr. of Downingtown William Ronald Brinton, Sr., age 93, passed away peacefully at his home, Simpson Meadows, in Downingtown, Pa. on December 1, 2012. Ron was born May 27, 1919 to Mary Reath and Nathan Edison Brinton in Thorndale and was a lifelong resident of the Downingtown area. He graduated from Downingtown High School in 1937, where he was a standout athlete on the football and track teams. Ron married Janet Elizabeth Marshman on March 21, 1942 and they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a B-17 waist gunner, flying 14 missions in the European Theater. He was injured during his final mission while attending to a wounded crew member. He was awarded an Air Medal for distinguished service and a Purple Heart. Ron worked at Downingtown Paper Company and retired as a sales manager after 45 years of dedicated service. He was involved in many community activities. He helped establish the Downingtown Little League and served as a Scoutmaster. He was a member of the Lions Club, VFW Post 845, and American Legion Post 475. Ron and his wife Janet were active members of the Thorndale United Methodist Church for many years. His interests included gardening, bowling and other sports and above all, spending time with his family. Known for his kindness, generosity, selflessness, and ever-present smile, Ron exemplified the very best qualities of the "Greatest Generation". Ron is survived by his son, W. Ronald Brinton, Jr., daughter-in-law Holly Brinton; grandson W. Ronald Brinton III and wife Teresa; granddaughter Heather Parker and husband John; step-grandchildren Samantha and Cornelia Moore; great-grandchildren Samantha Beatrice Brinton, Mara McGuire Brinton, Hannah Elizabeth Parker and Samuel Elliott Parker, and many beloved extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife Janet, his brother Nathan Edison Brinton, and his daughter-in-law Sherry Stoop Brinton. Ron's family is grateful for the loving care provided by the Simpson Meadows family and Compassionate Care Hospice.
