Notes for Isaac Jr. WAINWRIGHT

Isaac jr. was born in Philadelphia, PA in1789, one of ten children of Isaac Sr. and Rhoda Sparks Wainwright. Isaac Jr. married Margaret Burns and they had two sons, John and Henry. Infant Henry and his mother, Margaret, died in childbirth. Soon after Isaac Jr. left Philadelphia and went to Lynchburg, VA. He settled in a Quaker settlement and married Lucinda Johnson, daughter of Benjamin and Mary Hargrave Johnson. Three children were born in Lynchburg. Benjamin, Joseph and Mary Matilda. Joseph died in infancy. Sometime between 1827 and 1828 Isaac and Lucinda, along with Benjamin Johnson and family came to Union County, IN.

Isaac Jr. purchased 234 acres of farm land near College Corner and they had five more children, Sarah, Mariah (died at a few months), Caroline (died at age 19), Rhoda and Charles. Lucinda died four months after giving birth to Charles. Two years later Isaac Jr. married Margaret Westcoat and they had two daughters, Margaret Catherine and Lucinda.

Isaac Jr. and Margaret (Burns) son John married Susan Fouch of Liberty. They lived on a farm in College Corner and later went to Montgomery County, IN.

Isaac Jr. and Lucinda's daughter, Mary Matilda, married Laban Haworth, Rhoda married William Willis, Sarah remained single throughout her life. Their son Charles married Sarah Ring, daughter of W. Harden and Martha Snodgrass Ring. They lived on a farm at College Corner and later went to Kosciusko County, IN, where he owned and operated a well drilling and hardware business.

Isaac Jr. and Margaret's (Westcoat) daughter Margaret Catherine married Joseph Pierce and their granddaughter is Frieda (John) Corrington. Their daughter Lucinda married Franklin Sanford and their granddaughter is Shirley (Nickles) Schunk.

Isaac Jr, Wainwright died April 23, 1873 and Lucinda (Johnson) Wainwright died November 20, 1936. They are buried at East Cemetery. They were members of the Methodist church in Libby and attended regularly. The church was in the same location as it is today.
