Notes for Florence PENNINGTON
Mrs. Florence Pennington Hallman, librarian in the Law Library at the Media Courthouse for the last 12 years and a well-known, lifelong resident of Delaware County, died suddenly at 4:45 p.m. yesterday, in Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, where she had gone to visit a friend.
Mrs. Hallman, who was 63, and lived in Media at 14 South Plum Street, was waiting for an elevator on the street floor of the hospital when she was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage. She died almost immediately.
Born in Booths Corner, a daughter of the late Isaac and Sarah Pierce Pennington, Mrs. Hallman had lived in Media for the past 20 years.
Before becoming law librarian at the courthouse, she was secretary to the late Albert J. Williams for 20 years. Mr Williams was an attorney and former county solicitor.
During her 12 years at the library, Mrs. Hallman was noted for her helpful attitude and assisted many of the lawyers in their legal research.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Media and was active in the Ladies' Society and Bible Class. She also belonged to West Chester Council No. 45, Sons and Daughters of Liberty.
Mrs. Hallman whose husband, Howard, died in 1918, is survived by a daughter, Ruth Hallman Evans, of Orange Street; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Belle Wood, of 20 South Plum Street, and two brothers, Edgar J. Pennington, of Orange Street, and I. Clarence Pennington, of South Ardmore.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Rigby parlors in Media, with the viewing on Thursday evening. Burial will take place in Cumberland Cemetery, Lima.
