Notes for Jane GACKENBACH
Jane G. Brinton, 70, returned to her heavenly home on November 23, 2014 after a brief yet valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported Jane in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. She was born to the late Russell and Elizabeth Gackenbach, a WWII veteran and a homemaker respectively, in Wilmington, DE on August 9, 1944. A graduate of Goldey-Beacom College, she began her career at the DuPont Company before accepting a position with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals where she remained until her retirement in 2005.
Jane was blessed with a loving, extended family. She was the wife of Allan Brinton, Sr. and is the mother of two children. Jane was a caring woman gave her time to helping others as an advocate for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Delaware, Donate Life Delaware, and the Blood Bank of Delaware. She was also devoted to her Dobermans, Bonnie and Samantha and also to the rescue and care of countless animals. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, extended family, and countless friends who celebrate she is at peace with the Lord. Jane is survived by, Allan Sr. of Newark, DE; her son Allan Jr. and his wife Laura of Malvern, PA; her daughter Christina of Austin, TX.; son-in-law Matthew of Claymont, DE; stepsister Barbara Boyd and niece Jennifer Boyd-McKelvey of Claymont, DE; niece Sandy Geahr-Justice of Temple Terrace, FL; niece Tracy Geahr and nephew Thomas Geahr of Huntsville, AL. Jane was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Levine, her parents, her stepfather Hugh Jones and ex-Husband David Hughes.
Funeral services will be held on December 2, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 135 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE, followed by a brief reception. The burial ceremony will be private for family members at Grace Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church
