Notes for Betty Jane ASH
Betty Jane Pyle of Wagontown Betty Jane (Ash) Pyle, 87, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Clair A. Pyle of Wagontown, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville on March 17, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Mary Ash Franklin and Ira G. Ash. Betty "B.J." was a 1943 graduate of Scott High School and graduated from the former Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. She worked for a year as dental assistant to the former Dr. Harry G. Scott; she was a Coatesville School nurse for four years, then went into Navy Nurse Corp from 1951 until 1953 where she earned the rank of Lieutenant. She is survived by her husband and two children: daughter, Linda Pyle Temple, wife of Cleveland, and son, Dean Charles Pyle; two grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Douglas H. Pyle and her sister, Dorothy. The Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 South 17th Avenue, Coatesville.
