Notes for Margaret Haines MCDIVITT

Margaret Haines McDivitt Marshall, member of the Ventura County pioneer family of Abner Haines, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at her home in Ventura after a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Marshall was born Oct. 17, 1919, at St. John's Hospital in Oxnard. She lived in Santa Paula for 23 years attending Briggs School, Santa Paula High School, Ventura Junior College, Stanford University and University of California, Berkeley having earned a bachelor's degree.
After her marriage to Edwin "Ned" Marshall they moved to LaCanada where they lived until 1979, when they returned to Ventura after Ned's retirement from Lockheed. Together they enjoyed traveling to many exotic destinations.
She was a docent at Descanso Gardens in LaCanada and the Ventura County Museum of History and Art (now Museum of Ventura County). Margaret loved passing her knowledge of life onto youngsters and was integral in starting the Chumash Summer Youth Program at the museum.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ned Marshall in 2003.
She is survived by her children, Maiya and Donald Morrison of Sonora, Delia Woodward of Fountain Valley, Candace Marshall of Ventura, Marcus Marshall of Sacramento; grandchildren, Maiya Lee Morrison, Norman Morrison, Cameron Morrison, Christiana Paul and Juliana Woodward; and great-grandchildren, Haley Morrison, Zoe Morrison, Allison Lee, Abigail Lee and Edwin Marshall III.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Community Presbyterian Church, on Poli Street in Ventura with Pastor Marsha Martin officiating.
