Notes for William COOCH

WILLIAM COOCH, of Cooch's Bridge, Delaware; b. 5th June, 1762; d. 25th September, 1837; ran away and enlisted as a privateer shortly after the battle of Cooch's Bridge, 3d September, 1777; was captured and taken to England, where he remained a prisoner until after the close of the Revolutionary War; Member of Delaware House of Representatives from New Castle County, October, 1795, to October, 1801; State Senate, 1804; m. 25th November, 1789, Margaret HOLLINGSWORTH, b. 7th December, 1766, d. 4th September, 1833, dau. of Zebulon and Mary (EVANS) HOLLINGSWORTH, of Elkton, Maryland.
