Notes for Michael Francis PENNOCK

Michael Francis Pennock led the theology department at his alma mater, St. Ignatius High School. He also coached swimming and golf there and wrote more than three dozen Catholic textbooks, including some best-sellers in the field.
Pennock died June 24 at age 63 at his home in Austin, Texas.
He was born in Lancaster, Pa., but spent most of his life in Cleveland's western suburbs.
He worked at the Warrensville Heights municipal pool, managed the Brooklyn pool, taught first aid and saved three lives, according to his family. He also worked in the Brooklyn mayor's office.
His books ranged from church history to social justice. They have been translated into Japanese, Chinese and more.
Survivors include his wife and four children.

Author and retired teacher at St. Ignatius High School. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Church, 2256 Clague Rd., Thursday, July 2 at 10 a.m. Inurnment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
