BRINGHURST, ELEANOR P. "ELLIE" 87 -of Ocean City passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at The Shores At Wesley Manor of Ocean City, NJ. Mrs. Bringhurst was born July 26, 1926 in Camden was raised in Haddonfield and moved to Ocean City in 1947. She is the daughter of the late Arthur D. and Margaret (Pettit) Pierce. Ellie graduated from Haddonfield High School Class of 1943. She earned her B.A. from Drexel University and her Masters in Advanced Elementary Education from Rowan University. She had worked as a teacher at the James Locuson and Kresge Schools in Northfield from 1964 until her retirement in 1986. She had previously worked as a secretary in the Guidance Department in Ocean City High School and the OC Board of Education office. Mrs. Bringhurst was a member of Colony Club, NJEA, NEA, Cape May County and Atlantic County Education Associations, Cootie Club and Thursday afternoon Bridge Club. Predeceased by her husband Charles G. Bringhurst in 2011 and her Sister: Carol Powell. She is survived by one son: F. Richard Bringhurst, MD (Lindsay) a daughter: Carol Oaks (Robert). She also has six grandchildren: Robert McAllister; Kimberly McAllister Pettit (Robert), Erick McAllister, Ryan Bringhurst, Troy Bringhurst, Jeffrey Bringhurst, four Great Grandchildren, Kiley and Sean Pettit and Jack and Izzy McAllister. Her funeral service will be offered Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11 o'clock from St. Peters United Methodist Church, 8th Street At Central Avenue, Ocean City, NJ where friends may call from 10 o'clock until time of service. Burial will be in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ. Memorials contributions may be made to Shore Foundation DiOrio Society, 100 Medical Way, Somers Point, NJ 08244.
