Richard F. Miller, 84, died on May 11, 2007, in the Clara Maass Hospital, Belleville.
Relatives and friends may call at the Wilfred Armitage & Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in Arlington Cemetery, Kearny.
Born in Kingston, N.Y., Mr. Miller lived in Jersey City until moving to North Arlington in 1953.
He was a food importer for Mitsui in Hackensack for many years before retiring in 1987. At the time of his death, Mr. Miller was a business representative for Travel World in Clifton.
He was a graduate of Fordham University.
Mr. Miller was a member of the North Arlington Free and Accepted Masons and the North Arlington VFW. He was a councilman in North Arlington during the 1960s and '70s, and a member of the North Arlington Democratic organization.
He served on active duty in the Air Force during World War II and remained in the Reserves until 1965.
Mr. Miller was the husband of Nancy Plumer and the late Jeanie Campbell, and the father of Laura DeYoung and Donna Kafko. He is also survived by his sister, Dolores O'Brien, his five grandchildren, Jennifer, Erik Richard, David, Rebecca and Salley, and his two great-grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Arlington Volunteer Emergency Squad or the American Cancer Society.
